Log homes, and what Ive learned
It is also a fact that no matter what log home kit you have used, all log homes are tend to settle with time; settling means shrinking and compression of the logs. Shrinkage because of settling can be reduced by using well seasoned logs. Seasoning removes the moisture from the logs and chances of shrinking are reduced. You can't avoid settling due to compression because logs are stacked on top of each other and they have tendency to press down the logs that are positioned underneath. Settling due to compression is very common in tall structures.
